Russia’s Kamaz to start driverless truck tests in July
MOSCOW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- Russian truck maker Kamaz will start tests of its driverless model in July, CEO of Cognitive Technologies, a firm which develops the model with Kamaz, Olga Uskova told PRIME Friday.
“The first tests will be done in Moscow, on a training ground of the Emergency Ministry. Some tests are already being carried out. The first prototype will be (tested) in July this year,” Uskova said.
The company will spend 6-8 billion rubles to prepare all training grounds for tests and 12 billion rubles on car development, she said.
Google was the first company to get a license for driverless car traffic; it spent U.S. $2 million on the development of solutions for a Toyota Prius-based car.
